Aluminum foil has a highly dense metallic crystal structure, good barrier and shading properties; plastic sheets should have sufficient barrier properties to oxygen, carbon dioxide and water vapor, high transparency and mechanical strength not easy to crack. At present, the most commonly used medical blister packaging materials are PVC sheets and PVDC (polyvinylidene chloride). PVC has good compatibility, easy to form and seal, low price, transparency, barrier and mechanical strength can basically meet the requirements of drug packaging, but the ability to block water vapor and thermal stability is poor, for products with higher moisture-proof requirements, PVC is unsatisfactory. PVDC has high molecular density, regular structure, high crystallinity and transparency, and good durability. At present, PVDC film has the best barrier performance. The oxygen barrier of PVDC film with the same thickness is 1500 times of PE, 100 times of PP and PET, and its water vapor barrier performance is also higher than that of PVC, which is the ideal material for bubble cap packaging. Multilayer composite hard sheets made of PVDC and other film materials, such as PVC/PVDC, BOPP/PVDC, PVC/PVDC/PE, PVDC/OPP/PE, etc., are obviously higher in oxygen permeability, moisture permeability, moisture resistance and barrier performance than those made of single film material.
